Last Dead Train

And it rained all night and it rained all day,
And the people came around to take me away,
And I couldn't understand the words in your mouth,
And it must have been Winter, we were heading south,

And the last dead train is pulling away,
And I couldn't work out which words I could say,
And all our old idols are quickly defaced,
And as soon as you're gone you will be replaced,

And I doubt very much we will see this through,
And I don't quite know what we're going to do,
And a free cup of coffee at a railway side,
Stands cold and abandoned like a favour declined,

And if I try really hard I can almost see,
With the right kind of eyes through the right kind of meat,
If we're all just headed to the same damned place,
You can damn well take that smile off your face,

And it rained all night and it rained all day,
And the people came around to take me away,
And I can't understand the words in your mouth,
And it must have been winter we were heading South.
